Germany vs Spain - things to know.
We have collected some interesting facts for the pre-match consumption. The Bild has all the 20 things to know.
- Sharp shooting! One in every six shots on target for Germany at this World Cup has resulted in a goal. For Spain it is one in every 15.
- Spain are taking part in their first World Cup semi-final. For Germany it’s the 12th, a record.
- Germany have to do it like in 2000! Their last victory over Spain was a 4-1 win ten years ago in Hannover in what was Rudi Völler’s first game as coach.
- Germany have taken part in four shoot-outs during a World Cup, winning all of them. Spain have been in three, winning two and losing the other.
- Spain won all ten qualifying games for the World Cup. They went 35 games unbeaten from February 2007 until June 2009, a world record! The USA brought the run to a halt in the semi-final of the Confederations Cup in 2009 with a 2-0 win.
- No team who lost their first game have ever gone on to win a World Cup. Spain went down 1-0 to Switzerland while Germany beat Australia 4-0.
